Waitaminnit! Niedermeyer was killed by his own men in 'Nam! We say it at the end of the movie and heard about it from his own guys in Twilight Zone: The Movie. Plainly, this will be an impostor.
Didn't Flounder move on to working in a hospital, and then ended up being an alien who was a sort of assistant ambassador about 255 years from now?
