I had been hearing that they were going to remake Red Dawn, and didn't think much of it, chalking it up to Hollywood running out of ideas. But Christopher Knight is intrigued by a picture he saw and shares on his website, as am I now. And he links to a site with news of the remake called Red Dawn 2010. Sounds interesting, might check it out when it comes out. Wonder if it'll be PG-13 as well, since the original was the first release under that new rating.

I finally went ahead and took out the air conditioners from the windows today because it was getting colder, and I don't think it will get warmer again like it does sometimes. After writing about the figure that came with Superman Batman Public Enemies I opened the package. I found out that it wasn't an action figure like the Wonder Woman and Green Lantern that came with their respective videos, but a figurine. It couldn't be removed from it's base. I compared it to the DC figurines I have on top of my entertainment center and saw that while the base was smaller, the figurine was the same size. But there wasn't any lead warnings that the imported DC figurines have on the package.

Today's the day the video Superman Batman Public Enemies came out on video, and like the previous DC animated releases, Best Buy had an exclusive action figure (Infinite Heroes sized) that came with the video. For this one it's Batman as he appears in the video. The sales ad said minimum 4 per store and I didn't think I would have any problems getting one. But I had to wait to go until later in the afternoon because of an appointment Kathy had, so after dropping her off I went to the Best Buy I usually go to. They had one left with DVD, but not one with blu-ray. So I drove to the other Best Buy and they had 2 left in that format.
I hear the next video is Justice League Crisis On Two Earths and I would hope that the Best Buy figure with that video is one of the Injustice Gang and not a repaint of a figure that is already out.

With all the discussion about health care in this country, we're looking at other countries and what they cover. Take the United Kingdom, for example. I was watching Sicko and amazed at everything that was covered. The people over there thought it was absurd the whole concept of having to pay out of pocket for any medical care. We were watching the latest episode of Heroes this evening and Kathy was excited because she recognized Deanne Bray from Sue Thomas F.B.I.Eye, a show that she's enjoying watching weekday afternoons on the Gospel Music Channel (and not the first time someone on that show appeared on Heroes as I mentioned way back when) And on the show she plays a deaf person who can "see" sounds as her power and was talking to her doctor portrayed by Louise Fletcher. It was later in the show that I made the connection: Ms. Fletcher's parents are deaf in real life, which gave the scene an added layer of interest to me. When I explained to Kathy about how she ended her Oscar acceptance speech by thanking her parents in sign language, she liked it.
I would like to end with a snarky comment about how I wish the Heroes storyline was as interesting as that story, but it's getting there. They've got a ways to go yet but I think it's better than last week's premiere. It's closer to "is it over already?" than "how much longer until it's over?" that it was sliding closer to.

I've always considered the festival in my little town the start of the Fall season, and with it being last weekend, there you go. Waiting out the festival until it's over and they all leave. One good thing is seeing the nephews and spending some time with them. One of them remarked that it seemed like when he came over in the past, I had the attitude that he was intruding. I told him I was scared I was becoming agoraphobic and trying to fight it all the time. We looked around for a little bit yesterday afternoon and planned for them to come by to try out Beatles Rock Band. Only the younger one made it last night because they didn't get much sleep the evening before that and the older one was still sleeping. We played a few songs, but he's left handed like me, but plays right. I played guitar and Kathy sung. Then I put in Rock Band and my nephew and I did a few songs.
Then today they called and wanted to come over and play Beatles Rock Band. My older nephew plays drums and we did the story mode with all four of us playing. We got through the Cavern level and the Ed Sullivan Show level. They really liked it and the older one said he really wanted to get it now for his Wii. Hopefully things will work out so that they can visit us more in the future, but you know what they say: "life is what happens when you make other plans."
