It goes without saying that everybody isn't happy with their looks. And there are some people that decide to do something about it. And that something has to do with surgery. Personally, I'm not much for cosmetic surgery and the cultural mindset that causes people to shape themselves into something that they think society will deem attractive and then boy, will everybody like me, but there's a couple of reasons I'm writing about this. First, those considering cosmetic surgery would be the first to disagree with my conceptions about surgery. Second, I know that what I write on this blog isn't going to change peoples' minds, and I'm not one of those people who think because I don't like something that nobody else should be allowed to do it. In fact, I wish to help those considering such a lifestyle decision by pointing you to this site about Breast Enhancement that offers articles to help you make your decision on how best to proceed. And I can understand the need to get more information before going in for a consultation, so you should know that they have a thing that allows you to ask a doctor questions without having to schedule such an appointment.

Maureen Ryan of the Chicago Tribune has started a list of things TV is never allowed to do again, ever. Thanks to Paul Harris for the link.

Sorry there hasn't been much here in the past 30 hours. I woke up to find the internet was down, then went to Kokomo to look around. Still no Wal-Mart exclusive wave of DC Legends figures (but I did get Power Girl on the dreaded eBay, but at a reasonable price...or a premium that would keep from going batty looking. Now it's "just curious") but I did find Black Canary from the line at Meijer.
And although I swear to hold off on Christmas until after Thanksgiving, I caved in and bought a few Christmas things because the prospect of having them in our new home was overwhelming. The home stuff is on hold for now until the paperwork goes through, then the chaos begins. The home inspection, repairs and painting, and the dreaded moving in everything from point a to point b. We're hoping to be moved in before Christmas. I've been thinking about setting up a spin-off blog to chronicle the move to the new home. I'll let you know if I go through with it. I also got my comics from UPS today. Still no 1000 Comics You Must Read book, but I saw it at Books A Million today. I hope I get it soon. Wednesday, November 4

Given all the comics that President Obama has sold it's only appropriate who he's selected as his official White House biographer.

Remember when I told you about the price war going on between Wal-Mart, Amazon and Target on hardcover bestsellers? Now Wally World is starting a price war on a new front. So if you're thinking of buying a turkey or a flat-screen television (and hopefully there'll be no combination of the two) now's your big chance.

The big holiday gift giving season is upon us. Whether you're buying gifts for Christmas, Haunukah, birthdays or any other special occasions the big question is what would be the right gift. I might suggest that unless the recipient already has a very good and expensive one that you might consider giving a watch as a gift. It's something that will be used everyday and they will think of you and your thoughtfulness every time they put it on. With a watch such as one of these Casio gshock watches, they're very durable and reliable. They'll be glad that they got something they would use and love doing so. And they offer free 2nd day shipping in the continental United States and free sizing. Not only that, but they're brand new and authentic watches.

It's the day after election day. There really wasn't that many elections going on today, as it's an odd-numbered year and between the presidential and mid-term elections. But you wouldn't know that from watching the news. If there isn't something going on with a news story they've got to find an angle to play it up. Whether there's a lot going on or nothing going on they've got the same amount of time to fill. Print has some leeway, but not so much that they can get away with printing a super small version of their daily or weekly edition. So the election this year has become a referendum of the current status quo. And for most of us who didn't have an election to say our piece, you don't have to worry: each side is going to spin it so that you'll be stoked to vote next year. You'll either be cajoled into continuing the momentum of yesterday's election, or spring into action to stop the other side from gaining ground.
And for those of you who believe in any candidates' promises of cutting taxes should read this piece by Bob Rozakis for a reality check? Do you want less taxes or your potholes fixed, garbage picked up, or roads plowed after a snowfall? There aren't that many $600 toilet seats and hammer orders to cancel. Tuesday, November 3

It can be expensive to see the game. With the different charges they add to buying a ticket (not to mention how much the tickets cost to begin with) no wonder most of us end up watching the game at home. But sometimes you want to actually get out there and see the game in person. Even though it's getting cold, Fall is a great time to go out and watch some football. You wouldn't have to twist my arm to get me to go. The only holdup would be the cost.
But if you're looking for a great deal on good seats, then you should check out the tickets available at A Cheap Seat. You can find seats for Ohio State Buckeyes football tickets, Penn State football tickets, and more college football games. And if you want to take in an NFL game you can find you some good seats for Dallas Cowboys tickets.

"It was the best of times, it was the worse of times..." Dickens might as well have been writing about thinking about moving when he wrote that. We were hoping that we would get to move into this place. We had another place that looked like we were going to move into, but that fell through at the last minute. And we weren't having that much luck looking at other places. They say that the real estate market is depressed, but not here.
And it looks like it's working out. We probably won't start moving for a couple of weeks yet, but I'm starting. While we were out yesterday, I picked up drawer boxes for my comics and started putting them in the boxes. I've been getting my comics bagged and boarded for years now, so it's just a matter of taping the back flap and filing them in order. I've got 2 long boxes filled up so far. One of the next things I need to do is get my books into boxes that can moved. When we moved in here, there were a lot of things that were left for later, and concentrated on moving in. Those things that were put off weren't done for the most part and I don't want to repeat that mistake. We've got some ideas of how we want to get things set up and if we can pull it off we'll have a great place to live.

Looking at a move in our future, it's really scary and intimidating. But we have to move forward, not only for the biological imperative and all that, but because living at our current residence isn't feasible in the future. But one thing that's exciting about the prospect of moving: the dream of being able to move to a new place, a new start and all the possibilities that holds.
And with the market being the way it is, now is a good time to look at real estate. If you're looking for a good place to relocate you should consider some Boston Real Estate and the good folks at Bushari Group Real Estate can help you find the right place. Whether you're looking for a house, cozy Boston lofts, Boston condos and more, they find the dream spot for you to move into. So if you have the chance and you're looking for a place to relocate, why not Boston? It's a great town and it's just the place to make a new start. And you can find a nice place to call home.

The news we've been waiting for for the past few days finally came through. We've got it. Details to come, but it involves filling out change of address forms and needing to plan a move soon. Anyone want to volunteer? Anybody out there got a truck?

Still on pins and needles waiting for news on the personal front. I'm so nervous now I'm not getting excited about the V remake being on ABC tonight at 8pm Eastern time. I'm going to watch it and hope to enjoy it. I'd like you to enjoy it, too (at least in a way that I don't want to keep you from enjoying it because why would I do that? Honestly...)
And it looks like David Tennant is getting work beyond hosting duties on Masterpiece Contemporary on PBS.

Howdy do, everybody. Here's a little something for you if you're starting to suffer from the winter blues (like Gary) or anxious for some big news (like me) or fans of the show (like Mike and Mark):
Thanks to Mark Evanier for the link. Only drawback is from when theme songs were 30 seconds to a minute, and singles averaged 3 minutes, and you'd hear extra stuff (another verse, riffs, etc) that you're not used to hearing. But it's a great day for America, everybody. |
