Yesterday was the Heroes panel at Comicon International. They brought the first episode of season 3 and word is that it doesn't stink. Hopefully they're back on track. Here's Comic Book Resources' coverage of the panel. And here's Ain't It Cool News' coverage, with spoilers, but hidden (highlight to see) in the post. And they report that the original ending to last season's episode 11, and shot but unaired footage of episodes 12 and 13 will be on the season 2 DVD.

You ever notice whenever you go into a restaurant or business and they have the signs to help you? You know, what they have to eat and how much it is, or where a certain business you're trying to locate in the building, or how much a spa treatment is, that sort of thing. You never really thought about it before. It was one of those deals where you would only notice if it were really bad or not helpful. But can you think of going into a restaurant and seeing their menu boards that make the food stand out and make you want to order more? I'm bad about that going to a new place because they have so many good things that I like to try out that it does seem like my eyes are bigger than my stomach. Who says you have to have signs that aren't memorable and do a good job if people don't think they stink? SmarterSign's digital signs stand out more and leave a more positive impression on your customers and the public. With their dynamic design, they can increase interest in what you have to offer that will translate into higher sales and more money.
View Article  Marvel Smaller Heroes
First DC announced it, and now Marvel's doing it too: a 3 3/4 inch line of action figures. Since petroleum is used to make action figures and oil prices are going through the roof, it was a matter of time before they returned to this size. Say what you will about the Megos, the 80s line of Super Powers and Secret Wars (okay, more Super Powers) were very well done 3D versions of the characters, and any action figures since then are compared to those by me. But we got our first Wolverine figure way back then (with silver and black claws attachments). I just saw a couple of the DC smaller figures at a Toys R Us one time, and I've only seen the DC Universe Marvel Legends-like line at Meijer and Target.

There are some jobs that require you wear a uniform, or have other clothing needs. And there's some that require a specific type of footwear. If you're shopping for work boots this site has all sorts to choose from. And they have more than work boots. They've got this one shoe called a Thorogood Poromeric Academy Oxford that would look good with a suit in the office. So whatever shoes you need they can help you out. You can shop by style or brand, they offer online assistance, and you get free ground shipping on orders over $50.
View Article  Dr. Horrible's Financials
As entertaining as I thought Dr. Horrible's Singalong Blog was, I was more intrigued by the idea that Joss Whedon bankrolled it as an experiment in independent production, without relying on the money men. And what kind of money are we looking at? Here's a post with some speculation. At the end Joss points out he's not that far off, and makes another Doogie joke, as well. Thanks to Augie DeBlieck Jr for the link.

If you don't have life insurance, you should get it to protect those left behind if something happens to you. Even term life insurance might suit your needs if there's only a certain period of time you need coverage and you're afraid of paying higher premiums when you're older.

When it comes to losing weight people try all sorts of things and get frustrated when it doesn't work. Some people see the different ads for fat burners such as Ephedrasil Hardcore and wonder if that would help. As with anything involving your health, please consult with a physician before undertaking any change in your treatment.

Still plugging along, folks. Some news on the personal front was good, and made Kathy happy, which is important. Chasing leads on news from San Diego online, on TV (via G4's wrap up shows last night and tonight's) and XBox Live. Was mad at the latter for promising something from The Big Bang Theory, I was hoping it was something from the panel today, and the download was a promo for next season. As they said in A Christmas Story "A crummy commercial? Son of a..."
On the exclusive fronts, I was able to get a good deal on the Justice League Unlimited's Giganta 2 pack. I made a "best offer" on an auction that was accepted. Now searching for good deals on the Doctor Who Time Crash 2 Doctors pack, and the Future Hiro figure, mainly for Kathy.
View Article  Red Sonja Movie
Today at Comicon there was all sorts of stuff going on with the upcoming Red Sonja movie. Robert Rodriguez and Rose McGowan did a panel about the movie. And they had to tell the audience how to behave and that the questions would be prescreened. And there was a t-shirt and poster giveaway, which shows this is another green screen production.
View Article  Sump Pump Installation
When you have your own home there's nothing worse than having a flooded or leaky basement. There's that space that is yours that you can't use for anything because of the water that comes in. And then there's all that mold and the smell that accumulates as a result of all that water that comes in over time. As I've mentioned here before, one of the dreams we've had was to have our own finished basement that we could set up as a really fun place, like a friend of ours' had. I would really be bummed if we had a basement like that we couldn't use due to water leakage. Fortunately, there's things you can do about that to have the basement you wanted, not just something down the stairs that smells bad. With these different Sump Pumps Companies available, you can get the equipment and people you need to get that basement into shape and make it an excellent addition to your home, one you will be proud to showcase to anyone who comes to visit you. And you don't have to deal with that funky old mold smell anymore.
View Article  Life On Mars Change
Kathy and I watched the original Life On Mars series on BBC America, and our interest was piqued when we heard that they were doing a US Version, especially when it was picked up for this fall. Then the reports came out about troubles, changes in front of and behind the camera. Kathy's always boasted that she thought they should cast Colm Meany as Det. Gene Hunt in the US version and was thrilled when they did. Now she's madder than a wet hen that Harvey Keitel is taking over the role. You can compare them, even suggest it's an improvement, but it won't change her mind.
View Article  Postal Scales
Before when I'd sell stuff on eBay, I'd try to guess on what the postage would be. When it came time to put down what the postage and handling would be, I'd try to make my best guess. And if the item sold, I'd package it up and take it up to the post office. Sometimes I had enough to cover shipping, but most times I didn't, and had to eat the extra cost. Then a few months ago, I got some Postal Scales that could weigh things up to five pounds, and between that and the post office's website, I was able to more accurately post shipping and handling on eBay, and not eat any errors anymore. So if you don't use any kind of shipping scale and you do any kind of shipping, if you're like me if you get a scale it can pay for itself in only a few shipments if you sell online. Plus, your customers will appreciate that your shipping is more accurately reflected and not feel like they've been ripped off (which is something to always shoot for if you're doing any kind of business)

Sorry I haven't posted lately, been pretty busy. Still dealing with some things on the personal front, but some things are looking up. It looks like I'm able to fulfill a promise to a friend, and see The Dark Knight in IMAX again. So hopefully things will get better soon.
