I've read the early edition of the Sunday paper with the sales ads. I've confirmed the Wii sales mentioned here for Target and Best Buy, also they have an ad in USA Weekend for Wal-Mart mentioning they have it for sale. I'm having to pass on it for now, alas, as I'm planning for the Tuesday debut of Grand Theft Auto IV. If you've been waiting to get a new system for this game's release, some stores are offering a $50 gift card if you buy the game and a game system (X Box 360: Best Buy and K-Mart) or a Playstation 3 (K-Mart). You might click on the link to go to the threads for the Sunday ads for Target, Circuit City, and Best Buy for more info. And Fry's is offering the game guide for $5 if you buy the game from them. Anybody else know of any other deals for these games and systems?

If you're a small business or a self-employed individual looking for health insurance, how do you get it without paying through the nose? One possible alternative is USA Health Insurance that offers free quotes to businesses and individual, family or group insurance. And not a two-bit, fly-by-night insurance, either. You can get health insurance quotes from Blue Cross Blue Shield, United, Kaiser & Aetna agents for all states as well as COBRA replacement. Not only health insurance, either. They also have dental coverage available. So if you're looking for affordable health insurance in California or any other state, why not check them out? You might end up with better coverage.

My mom was mentioning something about getting a real estate license and moving into that career in her retirement. One school that offers education in that field is Key Realty School. While they offer Las Vegas real estate school enrollment, you don't have to go to Las Vegas to go to school there. They also offer online and correspondence classes, so they are very flexible as far as your schedule and location. You don't have to change your world to change your life. Wherever you are in life Key Realty School can help you achieve your goals and become licensed for the real estate field. They have the courses and instructors to help you with your dreams.

Paul Harris has a post up about this week's attack against reason and intellect. There was a similar mysterious phenomena in a nearby city that was explained away by a sonic boom by a fighter jet. And what's this backlash against intellectualism? Especially when it comes to picking a president? Has the last seven plus years been that good? Are we really slouching towards idiocracy?

After weeks of wondering and speculating, it's all official now. Guillermo Del Toro will direct the two Hobbit movies. Ain't It Cool News posted about it, and linked to this Variety article. While I usually don't make up my mind on movies this early in the game, it's good to know that's in good hands.

I've only been to California a couple of times, but I've never forgotten it. The scenery and beautiful weather. And there are a lot of companies out there, or are thinking of planning some sort of event in the state. Whether or not you live or work there, you don't have to worry about doing all the research and work to plan an event. Innovative Entertainment is the leading California event planning service. They offer Corporate Event Planning and Trade Show Promotion, as well as Entertainment Production and Special Event Planning. And you have many entertainment options to choose from, up to famous stars such as Mariah Carey and Jay Leno. I keep hearing about celebrities entertaining at events like these, but have never been to one. Wouldn't it be cool to go to one of these? You'd certainly get a lot of interest.

With Pennsylvania having their primary election on Tuesday, the eyes are turning on the next states up on May 6th, of which I'm in one of them. And sure enough, on Wednesday I got a flyer in the mail from Hillary. I don't whether to throw it out, or save it, since it's the first one I've gotten from a Presidential candidate. I could show it to kids years down the line: "there was a time when Indiana mattered in the primaries, and the candidates actually campaigned for our vote."

Are you still looking for a Nintendo Wii? Augie DeBlieck Jr is saying a lot of stores are stocking up for Sunday's release of Mario Kart Wii. And the DVD Bargains thread I check lists the sales papers of Best Buy, Circuit City and Target a few days before Sunday and have confirmed all 3 stores. The Circuit City thread says vouchers will be issued an hour before store opening, and DeBlieck says something about them bundling it.

I was used to a bi-weekly schedule for getting my comics. Then I realized today that there's one more Wednesday in this month, so I've gotta wait until next week for my next batch of comics. Crud. I'm behind in my reading, but there's something about getting new books to read.

Apparently a copy of Grand Theft Auto IV leaked out ahead of the official release in the US Tuesday. Bad enough that people downloaded it, but their achievements are showing up on X Box Live. You'd think they'd stay off of X Box Live until the release date, instead of being identified as hackers on the site.

We've got less than a couple of weeks until Free Comic Book Day. And I'm hoping to get most of the selections. It's a slam dunk for comics fans, but how is it at drawing new people in? This thread on Tony Isabella's board touches on some of the problems, mainly that it isn't really drawing in a new audience, and the selections and execution is starting to reflect that.

This was a film that was shown for a week at the northside arthouse theatre complex, but was difficult to schedule a viewing. Then Starz, as part of their Pixar marathon, premiered The Pixar Story last night. It was a nice overview of the history of the company, telling the story of the company and some of the people involved, especially John Lassiter. The film was by Leslie Iwerks, related to Ub Iwerks, who was instrumental in the development of Mickey Mouse. Worth seeing if you get a chance, especially for the behind the scenes stuff like the test footage of Woody they synced up to one of Tom Hanks' scenes in Turner and Hooch.
