Tonight starts season 4 of Battlestar Galactica on Sci Fi Channel. Hey, they're not showing a mutant bug movie, and like Boomer herself said "What are you going to do? Read a book?" They've been running the maration all week on Sci Fi, and it's pulled Kathy in from time to time. I keep telling her we've got them all on DVD, but they still get her every time.
View Article  Auto Insurance Quote
Many people do business with the same companies out of habit more than anything else. Another big factor is the belief that their personal relationship has translated to them always looking out for you and the belief that trying to get a better deal for yourself is a betrayal of some kind. Believe me, they're all business with you but maintain the illusion of friendship to keep your business, and if there was a way for them to make more money at your expense, they'd take it. So if you find yourself in that situation with your auto insurance, why not see about getting an auto insurance quote? You never know, you might get a better deal.
View Article  New Theatre Opening Today
There's a new theatre complex opening near where I live. And they have an IMAX as well. Remember when I had to go to Louisville to see Superman Returns? The problem was there was an IMAX in downtown Indy, but something about another theatre nearby kept them from getting the IMAX versions of films until well into their run, if at all. Then there was one opened on the southside of Indy, where I saw Spider-Man 3 and I Am Legend. And now there's another closer. That Rolling Stones Shine A Light directed by Martin Scorsese sounds good. Maybe If I have time this weekend.

Many business travellers are sick of the hotels, the small space, the restaurants...sure, it was fun at first, but eventually, the novelty wears out. Next time you have to travel on business, instead of going to that travel website that offers the best deals on hotels, or booking at the same old reliable, why not find corporate apartments that are more like home? You can search by location and find the best deal. And if you're going to the Democratic National Convention in Denver in August, why pay through the nose for a hotel room when you find something homier, and at a better deal? National Corporate Housing can help you no matter where or when you're going.

A recurring dream I have concerning vacations always seems to fall at the end of it. Either the last day that I hate, because tomorrow I go back home and that's the end of that; or the morning of the last day at the hotel, when I'm frantically getting everything together and out of the hotel before check out time. Fortunately, there wasn't much removed from what was brought up, so it was a simple, painless affair. Hopefully my brain took note of it and will offer me some much overdue dreaming of the more relaxing, enjoyable parts of the trip.
First we went to Great Escape where they had a sale on their used books and picked up a few. Then we went to Wick's Pizza and had lunch with Nate, getting Kathy and me a large Big Wick's that we knew going in we weren't going to finish, but that's okay, as we wanted leftovers to eat when we got home. Then we went to a Book and Music Exchange that Nate said he was going to, but something came up, as we found out when he called the store. I'd wish you to get better, Nate, but 1) I'm sure you are by now, and 2) even when you get your computer up and running again, you'll be too busy with World of Warcraft to come here. At Book and Music I saw some things I wanted to get and decided to trade my bag of books and stuff to get them. Then we went to the other Book and Music Exchange where we found a couple of good things at a good deal. Doing all we set out to do down there, we decided to head home, happy with some new acquisitions, but happier that we'd get to be back at our home that night.

The rain has stopped. It was a'coming down some earlier, knocked out the satellite. Don't really care. The only thing set up to record was The Daily Show, and thanks to cable, I can and did just set it up to record on one of the numerous repeats of the episode. What I like about the rain is when you can hear it and can hear all the bad stuff is going on out there, but you're nice and dry inside. I've got a ton of stuff to watch and read, and plenty of flashlights if the power went off.

I didn't make my weekly trek to the comic shop yesterday, so I didn't a copy of Secret Invasion #1. I went to the kinda sorta branch office of my local comic shop since it was in the same town I had some business to do in, and they learned they were sold out when I couldn't find a copy. So now I've gotta spend the next week on the internet with my fingers in my ears going "la la la la".

Many companies are interested in ensuring they offer the best customer service to their customers. They realize that the first, most important thing in business is to make sure the customers happy. If the customers aren't satisfied, then you have no business. Most times if people aren't happy with a business, they won't let them know. They won't come back. One way companies do that is with secret shopping solutions such as mystery shoppers that pose as customers to provide detailed reports of their intereaction with the business so that they can identify the strengths and weaknesses of their business that can help them out.

With no answer at Brad's door, I tried his phone again. He answered and said Christina, he, and his friends were out, but would be back shortly. Kathy and I talked in the car until they showed up. In addition to the two were another couple Randy and Tabatha. We talked for a little bit and Brad put on Scene It on X Box 360, with a Heroes wallpaper and background. When I got home, I found it and bought it for my system. Tabatha and I played Scene It, and it may amuse some other friends in River City that she was able to win the game. I didn't mind, the game was fun. Then Brad, Christina, Randy, Kathy and I went into the studio set up to record episode 100 of Podculture. We talked about Battlestar Galactica, Lost, Jericho (the last 2 shows Kathy and I haven't seen yet, but started on Jericho with tentative plans for Lost afterwards) Iron Man action figures, and some Geek Cuisine (much to Kathy's delight) It should be put out on Tuesday, and you can believe that I'll let you know when it's out.
It was late when we were done, and talked a little more, and decided to go out for a late meal. While we were tired, Kathy and I are always in the mood for an adventure, and we joined them at Steak N Shake. I got extra fries on my platter since that was all Kathy wanted to eat. Then we went back to the hotel and collapsed. Although we went to bed at 2:30 in the ayem, the record is still held by the late Kim Yale and company listening to her tales until 4am one year at the equally late (but not as missed) Chicago Comicon.

I was going to head down to Kroger's today because it's the last day for their current ad, and it has ground chuck on sale. But I was tired, and I figured that the cost of gas, it would be the same or less if I waited until tomorrow when we go out and do our regular shopping. So I decided to pass on it. With the way things are going, I need to start considering all the costs, including the opportunity costs. If there were any inclination to get out of the house, I probably would've.
I had to return a video at Blockbuster that was due tomorrow at noon, but that was in another town in the opposite direction. I also took back some magazines Kathy checked out of the library. And I got some more pop at Dollar General, as 2 liter Coke products are 90 cents this week, but a limit of 5, so I made more than one trip. I then went to the grocery store to get some taco shells for our own taco salad, and found some corn on the cob on sale. While there, I met a friend I used to work with whose wife works with my wife. Last we heard he was sick, but he is better and planning to go back to work on Monday. Returned the videos and got the first disc of Jericho season 1, after hearing Brad and Christina talk about it before. We watched the first two episodes, we're hooked now. I told Kathy that if we burn through season 1 before season 2 comes out on DVD in June we can get it on X Box Live. I also got Sweeney Todd that has to be back by Friday, but we're going back to town to take care of some things for my brother-in-law.

Here's some news I read that one source had to indicate it isn't an April Fool's joke and was verified by more than one source. Freakazoid! and Tiny Toon Adventures are coming to DVD. Although I have some of these, it's good to have them on DVD in a better, shall we say, quality. It's scheduled for July 29th after Comicon International. And did you know DC did Tiny Toon Adventures comics, but for overseas release? This was before the Johnny DC line was developed, and before Looney Tunes came out by DC.

Although we had planned an early start last Saturday, it was a little earlier due to one of the cats getting sick. After a quick clean up and a few minutes of laying in bed resting, we decided to get up and get ready. Picking up the mail before delivery as arranged the previous day wasn't done at the post office, but a call to our mail person we found out she was at our house. Got what we wanted, but not the way we wanted. We headed down to Cracker Barrel where we were told there'd be a half hour wait for our table. As it was one of things I promised Kathy for vacation, we decided to wait, as she wanted to have her usual Old Timer's Breakfast. After eating and a quick stop to pick up the early edition of the Sunday Star, we hit the road. Oddly, both ways I was tired and more anxious than usual to get to the destination rather than enjoy the trip. We did get to the hotel and checked in. I went down to soak in the hot tub for a few minutes but enjoyed the pool more. Then went to the room and found that my laptop could get wi fi and posted this entry.
We then went to visit our friends Doc, Tammy and Nate, and after an attempt to get me interested in playing Magic (like I need another addiction right now) we tried out the Wii. We set up the Mii icons for Kathy and me, and Doc, Nate, Tammy's daughter Amy and I tried the bowling on the Wii Sports. While it is a faithful adaptation of actual bowling, it's difficult to adjust to the game, as I developed a very big hook spin in my game. Although I wasn't doing well, I was still interested as I'm always interested in trying new games, and it was pretty much how my real life bowling was. For the second game we lost Nate and Amy, but gained Kathy, who did better than my first game, but so did I. Then it was time to eat. This was the first time I had salisbury steak that wasn't a frozen dinner and it was very good. Looks like we have another meal to add to our repretoire. Then we played a couple of games of Apples To Apples, that while I can't say who won other than it wasn't me, it was still as enjoyable as when they first got me interested.
Then it was time to pay a visit to our friends at PodCulture. I called and left a message we were coming. It was a few miles to their place, and there was the nervousness of trying to find a place when you've never been there before. But we found it, went to the door, knocked, no answer. Where were they?

Renuzit TriScents offers an electric scented oil air freshener in two scents: Seaside Breezes™ and Morning Meadow. And they offer a coupon on their web site to try them out. Not only that, but you can enter to win a chance to get $20,000 to transform your home. If I won the prize...where to begin, where to begin... The kitchen would probably be the first thing to be worked on. While there's no smell of soup, as Wayne Campbell said most houses had in the "Wayne's World" skits on Saturday Night Live, I assure you it isn't for a lack of trying, as I love soup and it's one of the favorite meals here at Casa Collett. But the smell of a house is important. After cleaning out the cats' litterbox, I like to sprinkle some deoderizer inside that makes a difference. Also having different scents like TriScents really makes a difference in a room and can make you more relaxed and, well, right at home. And if you can't be at home at your own home, then where?

And it's easy to get the coupon to try TriScents on their website, and reading Tanya Memme's Transforming Tips by the host of A&E's "Sell This House" (my wife's now interested) can inspire you to enter the contest. All this can inspire one to see what they could do for their home if they win and enter the contest. One tip they give you on winning contests is to read and follow the official rules because while it may not improve your chances, you'd be surprised by how many don't do that and make a mistake that may keep them from winning.

In the old days, people would call the phone numbers given in TV and movies, not realizing they're watching fictional characters. This was enough of a problem that they went to the 555 exchange whenever a phone number was given. Nowadays with the internet, since there's no chance of disrupting innocent peoples' lives (who could return the favor with a lawsuit) you just buy and create a domain, like the one mentioned on last night's How I Met Your Mother. And in other news of the show James VanDerBeek is slated to guest star in an upcoming episode featuring the return of pop singing sensation Robin Sparkles:

Executive Language Training is not just learning a new language, it's picking up the skills to make it in the global economy.
