No, air tools aren't what you use to fix you air guitar. e-tools has the equipment you need to get the job done, whether it's power tools, or tools you connect to an air compressor for power (my dad has some of these, they're pretty cool and give you the power you need, especially when you have a tight lug nut that won't come off) And they even have a toll-free number to call for assistance.

When people hear of the comedian Gallagher, they respond in one of two ways: either wondering if he's still out there, and remarks of a nature of Barry Manilow. You know, more fun to add to the voice of people putting him down and stuff. I'm not trying to offer a defense, just commenting on people who parrot things without knowledge of what they're talking about, which ironically leads to a higher consensus that wouldn't have been reached if based on an informed opinion. Anyway, Gallagher has tried to make an effort. In 1999, he and a bunch of other entertainers put on a show for the Spanish speaking audience that involved a month's learning of the language, stereotypes and disappointment at the turnout that would make you think The Producers was a documentary. Ken Levine has the details.

When we helped my brother-in-law to move to his new apartment, he was able to move with our help and the help of friends and other relatives. It got me to thinking about if we moved to our own place. One big hassle to going to the different companies offering moving services to find out how much it would cost, and to find them to start with. With MovingOrbit.com they can help you by being a nexus between you and those companies. They help you get quotes for moving truck rental from the information you input, such as date, size of truck, etc. Also, they provide practical advice such as asking friends about companies they've had experience with so you can make a decision, as well as advice to protect yourself and get the best deal.

I had read on Tony Isabella's board that one of the posters was going to be on Jeopardy! last night. Contestants on game shows can say they're going to be on, but can't reveal any information as to the outcome. I remember reading that Ken Jennings couldn't even tell his employers about flying out for subsequent shows until the episodes in question were shown. Anyway, Kathy and I watched Dave Sikula compete and he won last night's game with $15,000! Good luck on the upcoming shows, Dave. And thanks to fellow Tony boarder Keller for his post inspiring this one.

Next time you're planning a Budapest holiday, instead of booking a hotel why not try an apartment? They have everything that you'd expect in a 3-5 star hotel in Budapest. And like the other hotel price search sites, you can enter in your dates, and they show what's available with details, photos, maps and virtual tours. You can secure your desired location with a 25% deposit on your credit card, and have a nicer, homier accomodiations at the lowest price. Save money and be more comfortable and happy with where you're staying.

I finally hear from my friend Mark Gibson after a while, and it's about something going on in my state I didn't know about. Apparently, since March 13th, Indiana booksellers are required to register with the Secretary of State if they plan to sell sexually explicit materials. The American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression (ABFFE) is blasting it and planning to fight it. I would hope a law like this would be fought, and I'm ashamed I wasn't aware of this before.

There are many supplements out there and many reasons that people take them, such as to burn fat, build muscle, or just find products for their general well being. Whatever the reason Supplements.net is your vitamin, nutritional, and weight loss superstore. If you're in the market for a weight loss product such as Fastin supplement, they can help you out. They have product reviews of the different supplements for sale, a toll free number to call if you prefer to order by phone, same day shipping (and they even ship to APO/FPO addresses), and they offer free shipping on orders over $99.

ComicMix is reporting that Don Rosa had emergency surgery for a detached retina. He is recovering at home and it looks like it'll take 6 more months. Some may say "so what?" if you've got your health, but...instead of finishing on a cheesy platitude, let's hope that Don's back up to his life ASAP.

The first thing that came to mind when I heard DYMO LabelWriter was those clunky things we got when we were kids. They had the sticker things that you put in, turn the wheel to the letter you want to imprint, and squeeze than handle to spell out your name (to stick on your stuff), different sayings, etc. And do you remember the episode of The Simpsons when Bart got a label maker with a Mr. Microphone device that got him in trouble when he tried to prank the town that he was Timmy O'Toole who fell in the well?
I don't know why I'm going on about that, because referring to DYMO as a clunky label maker is like saying IBMs are adding machines with cranks and printer tape. They offer much more than that for your printing needs. Not only do they have label writers, but no more wheel turning and handle squeezing. These machines can also print postage and online stamps, which anyone having to deal with the post office realizes what a godsend that is. So I assure you that DYMO is well into the 21st century and can meet your office needs.

Peter David writes about Madeline Kara Neumann, a girl who died from diabetes. Technically, it was her parents refusing to seek treatment, but pray to God for help. Even Kathy wouldn't agree with that. She even knew the story Peter told and refered to scripture as he did.
And Keller writes about a Wisconsin appeals court upholding sanctions against a physician refusing to dispense birth control pills or transfer the woman's prescription. Could this mean we're finally getting out of the dark ages?

While this hasn't been the best week, I can understand some of Violent Acres' complaints. While I may not be the healthiest shopper, I try, but that's not the point. I like to try to get the best deal when I go food shopping. One way is on 2 liters of Diet Coke. So when there is a sale, I like to stock up. I'm sick of people asking me if I'm having a party.
And Kathy's had to deal with voice mail hell a few times. Even utilizing my tip I read from Peter David to act like you have a rotary phone and don't push any buttons to get to an actual person only helps sometimes, where they either put you back into voice-mail hell or hang up. Link's worth a read, but heads up for language.

Kathy is having fun being at home and not having to go to work, but there's a couple of things that make us wish that we took off and got Vacation Rentals somewhere. We like them better than hotels because it's more like home with your own kitchen. One trip to the store to stock up and instead of eating fast food all the time, you can cook like at home. And if you feel more at home, you can relax more and recharge your batteries. And isn't that what it's all about?

Things are still chugging along here. We went to a local restaurant yesterday and ate the all you can eat breakfast bar. Tonight we're having chicken quesadillas. Tomorrow we're planning on going to a pizza buffet for lunch, and use one the gift cards we got for Christmas for dinner. But it isn't all eating our way around vacation. Kathy's got to watch some shows she wanted to see, and enjoyed getting to sleep in later than 3:30 in the morning. One thing she said she looked forward to was if she got up in the middle of the night was to look at the clock and think "Ha ha! I don't have to get up!"
I'm glad she's enjoying her vacation.

One of the things we're working on now to get my brother-in-law settled in is a phone so we can get in touch with him. We're not getting any long distance for him because we're worried about a big bill coming in otherwise. One thing I was thinking about as an option was a calling card where it'd be prepaid instead of waiting and worrying on a bill, and could either get a new one or replenish it. Fortunately neither he nor us don't know anyone overseas to call, but instead of worrying about how much it'd be to call over there, wouldn't it be better to get a Japan calling card and not have to pay through the nose? Another way they come in handy is if you're travelling. Even if it was just to order pizza from a local place, I'd go down to the payphones in the lobby because the hotels charge through the nose even for a local call. With calling cards you can call home, order food, and make those other important calls and not have to worry about the bill at checkout.

Free LiveJournal going bye-bye. I had heard rumblings of this last week. This might be the final nail in the coffin of my other blog, as life and things around here are stepping up.
X-Box 360 isn't going Blu-Ray. I suspected as much when HD-DVD went belly-up, and figured Microsoft would go for downloaded content vs. Blu-Ray as their next step. Camelot 3000 isn't getting an Absolute edition, but it's getting a hardcover treatment a la the recent Killing Joke release. Telling is their comment that Transmetropolitan isn't getting the Absolute treatment because of it's length and that it "doesn't promote anything else DC is currently publishing".

Next month a couple of friends of mine will celebrate their first wedding anniversary. I can remember the blog they set up about getting everything ready, the songs they selected and the million other intrigues that went on in getting ready for the big day. There's so many things to arrange, to order, to send out, like Contemporary Wedding Invitations. There are a lot of beautiful tasteful ones available. One of our favorites among these 1st Class Wedding Invitations is this watercolor bride and groom that looks like Kathy's favorite card from all the ones we got when we got married, from an old friend of my grandma's. She has it and the others in her wedding album and she likes to look at the cards and the pictures from that day. Not only do wedding invitations get the word out and formally invite family and friends to your special day, it's nice to have reminders of that day to look back on and remember the good times. And getting your wedding invitations from 1st Class Wedding Invitations can help you out. By ordering online, not only can you save some money, but you get to input what is printed on the invitations, cutting down on errors. And any opportunity you can take to keep something from going wrong, take it. Plus they have a toll free number to call so if there is any questions or problems they can help you out.

Anime company has decided to take an unusual approach to piracy: starting next month their series debuting in Japan will be streamed online the same day they're broadcast in Japan. And subtitled in English as well. Hey, this might actually get people interested in the series when they come over here. Courtesy Warren Ellis.
And Hulu is now on the air--er cable--er, internet tubes. I read about Hulu in Entertainment Weekly, and if there's no problem watching stuff on there, they might have something. It's free, but you have to watch a couple of commercials. Courtesy Paul Harris.

It's been 6 years since I was last in Orlando. It's hard to believe. I can't remember the last time I went so long without going to Orlando. I do miss the place. And it being such a popular destination for different organizations I wouldn't mind going down for one of those get togethers, even for the 2008 American Urological Association Annual Meeting that's coming up. It's being held at the Orlando Vista Hotel. Sure, there's all sorts of deals and places to stay when you look for Orlando Hotels, but if you're wanting to hit the area parks which I still feel an attraction to even though I'm in my forties, the Orlando Vista Hotel is worth checking out. And even on the Disney property there's numerous >Lake Buena Vista Hotels to be found (did you know that Lake Buena Vista is where the Disney parks and entertainment center is located, just south or Orlando? If you've never been there you think it's all in Orlando) but this one is close to Downtown Disney (if you go, check out the House Of Blues. We went there to eat, but I wish I got to see a concert there) and they have all sorts of last minute deals available, so you don't have to think all the good ones are gone, even if you're going down this weekend (man, don't get me started) So check out the Orlando Vista Hotel whether you're coming down for a convention, meeting, or just to kick back and relax.

I've heard of the book The 10 Cent Plague that covers the history of comic books up to the creation of the Comics Code Authority. But according to this article it was comics and not rock and roll that started the counterculture. Interesting thought, but I'm too buried in books to check it out right now.

One thing that the wife loves to do is draw up floor plans for apartments. Not for homes, for apartments. I know, go figure, right? But that's something she loves to do. And although I know she isn't planning on going anywhere near Lewisburg PA they have these apartments that are close to Bucknell University and downtown Lewisburg. Each apartment includes Chef's Kitchen, Beautiful Wood Floors, Kohler Fixtures, Radiant-heated Bathroom Floors, Central Heating and Cooling, In-unit Laundry Facilities, and Energy-saving Design. Usually the first thing she wonders about when she looks at apartment guides is if the apartment includes a washer/dryer hookup, so to actually have laundry facilities in the apartment itself would impress her.

A boy the bullies love to beat up. I don't care if he "got what he deserved" how does a school system allow this to continue? Thanks to Geoffrey Wessel, I guess.
And don't worry, if Senator Obama becomes president, we still run everything. And here's some of what that entails. And do you know the response of those in charge to our rising opposition to Iraq? "So?" That's a quote, watch the video if you don't believe me. I need more than a dandelion break on this one, kids. |
