Brian Cronin does a write up on the Siegel ruling over at Comic Book Resources. Also, he offers to answer questions and maybe do a FAQ in the future here. Reading over the article, while I was fuzzy on some of the concepts, I pretty much got the copyright concepts in my original post right. Copyright law still not Zathras' skill.
