The Consumerist has this post about locksmiths that makes you think. I didn't realize they were so unregulated. As I wrote before, I had locked the keys in the trunk the first time I went to the Chicago Comicon, and I was so frantic to get the keys out since we were just there for the day. While the price was high, it didn't change from what I was told over the phone, and it was 4th of July weekend. I'd hate to think what would've happened if what was described in this post happened to me. I carry a spare key to get into my vehicle and I do have AAA. Maybe I should make sure I have a spare if I happen to take another vehicle on a trip. Check out the post and see about the other tips they offer. Luck favors the prepared. Or to look at it another way, it's like being Batman with contingency plans and all that.
