Hey kids, there's a new show starting tonight on ABC called Masters of Science Fiction. Narrated by Stephen Hawking, it features stories adapted by Robert Heinlein and Harlan Ellison, among others. A smart show? What's it doing on ABC, you ask? Again, it's on Saturday night, in August. Not only that, but they won't be showing 2 episodes, so we're only getting four. Read this latest reason why I have no sympathy for the big 3 networks, especially the alphabet one, here. And hey, set your VCRs, TiVos, DVRs, what have you, to record this.

You know how you go shopping online and while you're checking out it asks for a coupon code or promotional code? If you're like me, you like to save money where you can, so you try Googling, usually without any luck. It seems like some of the links are out of date or unreliable. What's needed is a good source of online coupons. RetailMeNot is one such place. Not only do they have the places you can search for on their site such as this dot5hosting coupon, but with the Firefox extension you can be reminded of any relevant codes during checkout, or sign up for their weekly newsletter and get a heads up on any updated codes.

Bunnyman and Superwife weren't sure whether to see Simpsons or Bourne Ultimatum...so they went to both. SW writes about the dilemna which is the double feature when it's do it yourself, having to find a theatre to time it just right. Then read how she solves a mystery she originally tried to pin on me.
I got my own package today: the collection of the Nothing Better. Looking forward to reading it on paper for a change. Now if only the Shortpacked collection would come in...

After Superman: Doomsday, Justice League: The New Frontier, and Teen Titans: The Judas Contract, what will the next DC animated videos be? According to Newsarama, Wonder Woman and Batman. In something called "Batman Anime" that is to take place between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, scheduled to come out 2-4 weeks before The Dark Knight.

I've written before about the one and only time we've been to San Francisco, it was while we were attending Anime America back in 1993. Unfortunately, all we saw of San Francisco was driving through it, and we've wished time and again to go back and spend more time seeing the sites. And there are a lot of sites to see, the time it take researching and planning on what and when to see it. One good alternative to go to is San Francisco Sightseeing , that offers all sorts of tour packages for sightseeing. When we were driving across the Golden Gate Bridge, Kathy asked me what the building was she saw out in the water. "That's Alcatraz" I replied. And what do you know, Trusted Tours offers an Alcatraz Discovery Lunch Cruise as one of their packages. And the tours aren't necessarily just one stop. They have many different tours to choose from to suit whatever you sight-seeing needs would be. They offer tours of other cities, as well. To get information about the tours, specials they have, information to help you in your planning be sure to sign up for the Trusted Tours eNewsletter.

Next Gen video gamers take note: Grand Theft Auto IV is delayed to middle of next year. Haven't got a system yet, it looks good from time to time. It's coming down to having something good enough to justify the purchase. And the next-gen DVD players don't grab me as well.

Vanity Fair has a story about the 65th anniversary of Archie Comics. What's interesting to comics fans when the mainstream media does an article like this is when they state something that makes you groan, slap your head, or both. Here's this article's:
"each Archie comic book still bears the Comics Code seal. (So do the racier Simpsons comic books; Star Wars comics do not.) " I don't suppose the fact that Dark Horse comics has never submitted to the Code has anything to do with it. I guess it's easier to put in this head turning non sequitor (Star Wars comics are racier than the Simpsons) than to try to explain the direct market system.

With a digital photo frame you can load up your photos onto a memory card , put it in the frame, and you're good to go. They offer different sizes of digital picture frames from 7-10 inches, and they offer shipping worldwide. Previously the only way you could view your photo's is by printing them all off and storing in an album possibly looked at every few years, otherwise, you may bring out your PC and huddle family and friends around it while you open hundreds of files. And unless you changed the names of the picture files, they're just letters and numbers, and you have to spend even more time trying to find them than if you were looking for them the old way. But with this digital picture frame, you can display your pictures much easier. Plus, not only do they accept Visa and Mastercard, they also accept PayPal.

When I first heard about this site that offered Cheap Furniture, I had my suspicions. But when I went to the site, I saw that what they actually did was point out the furniture bargains to be had at other online sites such as Wal-Mart, Home Depot and Amazon. Hardly companies to question. And instead of going to those sites and more, there's one site you can go to for Cheap Furniture deals.

Harry at Ain't It Cool News is travelling with his wife across the country seeing movies at appropriate locations. They just saw North by Northwest at Mount Rushmore. The next stop is Goldfinger at Fort Knox this Friday. Here's the write up from the local paper. If Kathy didn't have to go to work the next day, we'd go.

Sure, there's a lot of ways to find that special someone. And, of course, the internet has all sorts of websites set up for you to search. But it's still very hard to find someone with everything out there. That's one of the many reasons you should consider interacial romance. It's free to sing up, there's all sorts of profiles and pictures to search through on your own, or you can select certain criteria and have them look for you. There's no reason you shouldn't consider interracial dating. Give them a try today. Wednesday, August 1

Remember a few months ago, when I wrote about wanting an Itsy Bitsy Spider-Man? Today I was at Target and saw they were marked down to $4.98. Finally got one. Good deal, check your Targets, and as always, YMMV.

Every time you go to a doctor's office or other medical facility, there's always paperwork to do, and you see files going back and forth, even with those places that have joined the computer age. But there's some places that are facing the need to go electronic, and feel overwhelmed with the conversion to electronic health records . At VirMedicine, they say "you mastered medicine, we mastered technology". They offer the NextGen EMR (electronic medical records) and NextGen EPM (enterprise practice management) software in two Models that meet the needs of every practice. VirMedice has all the support needed to implement, train and develop the medical records management software to your specific needs.

Last week when I got my comics the Speedway had a plastic cup with Elvis on it, apparently promoting a tie-in with Reese's. Nothing with the King on any Reese's in the store, so I filed it under "to be continued". Then this week's Walgreen's ad had a sale on Reese's and Hershey's candies in bags 2/$3 and you could buy an Elvis teddy bear Beanie Baby (in orange or brown) for $3.99. Kathy has a friend at work that likes Elvis, so today I was able to get her a couple of bags of Reese's miniature Peanut Butter and Banana cups (hey, what else do you tie in with Elvis?), a couple of bags of regular peanut butter cups for out candy container in the living room, and a couple of brown teddy bears. Kathy's got a bag set up with the PB & B cups, teddy bear and Elvis cup to give to her tomorrow, and our candy supply has been restocked.

Have you been seeing the previews for Superbad, that new comedy movie coming out August 17th? I've been seeing the commercials on TV and the previews and it looks like it's worth checking out. You've got Jonah Hill, who you might remember as that guy from Grandma's Boy and Accepted ("Ask me about my weiner" Yeah, that guy) and Michael Cera from Arrested Development. It's about two guys in high school who decide to live it up for a night and the wacky hijinks that ensue as a result. What? You haven't seen anything about it yet? Or you've seen it, but want to see it some more? Well, check this out: Today only You Tube has 5 Superbad videos for you to watch. And you don't have to worry about the studio taking them down, because it's the studio that's behind the promotion. But you do have to hurry, because it's going on today only. And there's more clips from the movie here. And after you do that, you can check out the official website to get ringtones and downloadables (such as wallpapers and buddy icons) and more. But remember, today only (August 1st) is the day to go to You Tube for 5 Superbad videos. |
