This is Tony Collett's weblog dedicated to my thoughts on the happenings in the world, comic books, anime, science fiction, DVDs, and anything else I encounter. I'm forty-something, male, and married (sorry, ladies)

View Article  Hot Day
Hope everybody had a good Fourth. We went to the fireworks last night, and got a close spot. Kathy loved them, said she felt like they were just for her, they were so close.
Boy, you don't know how good a/c is in your car until you don't have it. Much like being without a computer (which I am having problems with the main one, but can use the laptop in situations such as this) you really don't know what you miss until it's gone. We went for the weekly fix of comics. Thanks to my LCS checking with his game distributor, I have 2 issues of my favorite comic Knights of the Dinner Table. Hoody hoo! Then we went to SuperCuts and got our hair cut, then to Cracker Barrel where Kathy got her favorite Old Timer's Breakfast, then Barnes and Nobel where I got the papers, and the Wally World for some supplies.
We're sitting in our house now, chillin' down with the a/c in here, and counting our blessings.

I was cleaning up in the bathroom the other day and found something I didn't think I'd find again: my wedding band. I got both my set and my wife's set from Service Merchandise years ago and sorry to say they're not around anymore. If we need any assistance on them, we're pretty much on our own.
One place that won't leave you out in the cold is White Flash, a site that offers beautiful gems in anniversary rings and engagement rings as well. They have a history of happy customers as their testimonials will demonstrate. They love exceptional jewelry almost as much as like creating a smile on the customer's face.

Once again in the light of day Mark Evanier provides some perspective, links and analysis to politics. A sure cure for outrage fatigue. I'd feel bad about writing in the heat of passion, but hey, isn't that what the internet is for? And at least I spell better.

For years whenever I heard of Las Vegas I'd hear about the MGM Grand Hotel. I always associated it as the Las Vegas hotel to go to in Vegas. And I've read Mark Evanier's postings about how many hotels one associates with Vegas has fallen by the wayside, ending up being imploded in a big publicity push. But not to worry, troops, the MGM Grand isn't going anywhere. It's staying as put as the things that happen there. Looking over the stars they've got booked includes such mainstays as Tom Jones and new acts such as David Copperfield and Lewis Black. They are also the home to Ka by Cirque Du Soleil. As their site puts it, "Whether you come to Las Vegas for the entertainment, or devote yourself to the casinos and dining and look at entertainment in Las Vegas as an extra add-on, you’ll find something just right for you, just when you want it."

11 of the 7-Eleven markets have been converted to Kwik-E-Marts. I dunno if I wanna go to Chicago to see it. But all the 7-Elevens have Simpsons inspired products for sale at all locations. Besides the Slurpee Squishie collectible cups and straws, there's an exclusive issue of Radioactive Man #711, made just for 7-Eleven.

Love, romance, dating and relationships. Everyone's got questions about them. How to find it, how to keep it, what to do. Everybody wants to know the secret, especially when they find out I've been involved for over 25 years. I don't think because I've put in the years that I'm an expert. But there's one site that can help you with your romance questions. Everyone can benefit from it. Things like romantic notes, letting that special someone know you think they're special, things like that. Even though a lot of people think I've got it made, I saw some tips I plan to use myself.

For those of you that came here wondering what I thought about W letting Scooter Libby off the hook, all I can do is to direct you to this post at Kung Fu Monkey. When will someone point out that the founding fathers didn't leave things vague as a loophole to be exploited? When will it end? I'm just too full of rage to say any more, maybe like John Kovalic says I'm suffering from Outrage Fatigue.

Well, tonight was the preview showing of Transformers, and at the nearby theatres today was the last day for Nancy Drew. I wanted to see the former, Kathy wanted to see the latter, so plans were hatched to go out for both today.   more »

Sometimes when I'm out I get the New York Times. Besides reading the in-depth coverage of the day's events, issues, etc. they have house listings. Kathy likes looking at houses for sale and I show them to her. And just now we looked over the Long Island real estate that's at the Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate home page. They also have listings for New York, the Hamptons, and North Fork. While Kathy and I can only look and dream right now (without troubling any real estate agents) they can help those looking to move into the area or invest in real estate with home valuation calculator, resources for relocating, and more.

There are a lot more choices available nowadays for TV packages. And a lot of people looking at satellite TV have a lot of questions about the two big ones out there, DirecTV and Dish Network. Sure, there's online research, and I've done it myself, but it's time consuming and sometimes confusing keeping track of what's what. There's one place you can go for information about Satellite Television. This site will answer any questions you have and help make up your mind.

Marvel Comics buries Captain America. Stephen Colbert has his shield.* So that must mean he's really dead, ain't coming back. He's not comic book dead, he's Bucky dead.

*Okay, I have his shield, too. Doesn't mean anything.
