Cindy Sheehan has announced her withdrawl as the face of the anti-war movement saying "Good-bye America ... you are not the country that I love and I finally realized no matter how much I sacrifice, I can't make you be that country unless you want it. It's up to you now."
Given the price she's paid in her personal life, and that I've been there myself, all I can do is wish her the best.

This is Tony Collett's weblog dedicated to my thoughts on the happenings in the world, comic books, anime, science fiction, DVDs, and anything else I encounter.
I'm forty-something, male, and married (sorry, ladies)

One third of the Match Game holy trinity Charles Nelson Reilly has passed on. Kathy and I both enjoyed coming home from school (independently, of course. We lived 5 miles apart back then) to watch Match Game at 3:30 and Tattletales at 4. Kathy hopes that GSN will run a marathon in tribute.
Thanks to Mike Sterling for the heads up. Saturday, May 26

Gordon celebrates his 700th post by linking to Kevin Rubio's classic Troops via the You Tube.
Kathy's favorite line: "If ya move again, I'm gonna shoot cha." And Michael Coate has a fascinating article detailing Star Wars in 1977, providing details about it opening in 32 screens (while true, it opened in more on Thursday and Friday, bringing the total up to 43. And that that was all the theatres interested in the film before it's release). Friday, May 25

Mark Gibson writes about the anniversary and has a cool YouTube video embedded.
ComicMix talks about it with a video as well. And Harry's got some stuff up on Ain't It Cool News.

To paraphrase another George Lucas classic "Where were you in '77?" You didn't think I was gonna say anything about it, did you Tammy?
Yes I already got the stamps today. Kathleen David and Bob Greenberger have a rememberance up, which is odd because Star Wars debuted in only 32 theatres (a far cry from 4000+ for today's blockbusters) Best of all, Merrick has his rememberance up on Ain't It Cool News where I dug up this little gem: And I did some digging for these deleted scenes: And in a little while we're gonna watch one of the altered versions on DVD to celebrate (don't have the money to get the originals that came out last fall, and holding out for an ultimate box set that's inevitable to come) And lest I forget, there's another anniversary today. Happy Anniversary, Bully! Thursday, May 24

Keller has the transcript of Keith Olbermann's Special Comment about how the Democrats caved in on their mandate and gave in to W (who threatened to hold his breath until he turned blue if he didn't get his way)
