The drawback of CDs becoming popular is that records' larger size allowed to enjoy the cover art more, among other things. And ironically, the lack of compression on the audio allows for the music heard on records to be more nuanced. and doesn't have all the sound on an analog groove. I know I sometimes see vinyl albums of new music of some bands, and Christina Aguilera's retro album came out on vinyl as what I thought was an appropriate tie-in. But now, ironically, vinyl is enjoying a comeback, competing against CDs. And some labels offer downloads of their music for those still needing a digital fix.
