TV Squad brought this to my attention:
And, as TV Squad pointed out, this isn't a clip from 1999, but last week. Now all I need is another "POW! ZAP! Comics Are Hot? Holy Collectible, Batman!" article and my day is complete.

I'm guessing that first comment was intended for the previous (movie) post.
Given the demographic I suspect the average local newscast has I'm not going to be too harsh on them for presuming their audience would need to be brought up to speed. I know I only rarely, intentionally watch local newscasts, lacking the patience to wait in line as they ineptly cover a dozen items I don't care about on the way to some teaser piece that almost never is anything but either the barest edge of useful information or turns out to be a red herring. An interesting consideration is whether or not any of the people at the mini-convention mentioned the role of blogging as alternative, hyperlinked news media. Much depends on who showed up, but this piece could be seen as presenting all blogging in a marginalized, trivial, niche fashion. Granted, that's apt for many (likely most) blogs, but the piece skipped even the role of blogs as specialized sources of information. Trackbacks
