Your 'Do You Want the Terrorists to Win' Score: 94%

You are a terrorist-loving, Bush-bashing, "blame America first"-crowd traitor. You are in league with evil-doers who hate our freedoms. By all counts you are a liberal, and as such cleary desire the terrorists to succeed and impose their harsh theocratic restrictions on us all. You are fit to be hung for treason! Luckily George Bush is tapping your internet connection and is now aware of your thought-crime. Have a nice day.... in Guantanamo!

Thanks to Mark Gibson for pointing this out. Hey, Mark, I call dibs on the top bunk!
View Article  You Can't Win Against The Religious Right
The Religious Right, in their continuing quest to protect us from the threat of the homosexual agenda, likes to say homosexuality is wrong because God (specifically Leviticus 18:22) says so. That's it, end of story.
But when you point out the other things that Leviticus (and other books) says are wrong as mentioned here and in the classic "Dear Dr. Laura" letter such as shaving is prohibited (Leviticus 19:27), prohibiting wearing mixed fibers or planting two different crops in the same field (Leviticus 19:19), touching the skin of an dead pig makes one unclean (Leviticus 11:6-8), cannot approach the altar of God if you have a defect in your sight (Leviticus 21:20) and that eating shrimp is an abomination (Leviticus 11:9-12); they reply that it would be inconvenient or annoy people if we followed those laws that's part of the Bible that's irrelevant since Jesus died on the cross. And some add that it was mentioned as wrong in the book of Romans, as well, so that's that. A quick Google search turned up this site that discusses the Bible, homosexuality, and translations. But it's doubtful that it would change any minds, or even to get them to think.
If you'll excuse me, I think I'll go engage in a more productive activity, like banging my head against the wall.
Update (a little later): Actually I've been reading from the last site I linked to, particularly the previous battles with conservative religion on the topics of slavery, womens rights, etc. It gives me some hope seeing that this battle was fought before on other fronts.
View Article  More Milestones Missed
On his blog Glenn Hauman mentioned a couple of milestones the Republicans neglected to mention amidst all their 9/11 hoopla: as of last August 19th we've been in Iraq longer than we were in WWII, and more Americans have died in Iraq than on 9/11.

Glenn Hauman writes about today being the 7th anniversary of an anniversary we should never forget.
Let the eagles soar, indeed.

Keith Olbermann marked the 5th anniversary of 9/11 with this commentary of the failures since then, especially at ground zero.
