Bend over and get ready, troops. Due to leaks, corrosion and other anomalities a major Alaskan oil field is shutting down. This field supplied 8% of US oil production.
The article said there was a previous decision to shut down 3 miles of the pipeline. My uncle worked on the Alaskan pipeline back in the '70s and I can tell you it'll take a lot longer than you imagine to replace that, not to mention the other trouble spots. That's before you factor in the theories about driving up the oil prices. And Big Oil has shut down refineries recently (I'm just sayin')...
