This is Tony Collett's weblog dedicated to my thoughts on the happenings in the world, comic books, anime, science fiction, DVDs, and anything else I encounter. I'm forty-something, male, and married (sorry, ladies)

Comic Book Resources has this article about the Spirit--sorry, Will Eisner's The Spirit. Looks like it's off to a good start. I can even understand the decision to eliminate one of the characters.
Now if only Diamond can get their act together and get this week's shipping lists up...
View Article  Clerks II
Went to see Clerks II with my nephew last night. Didn't care for the theatre we saw it in. Evening shows are $8.75, as opposed to $7 at this one, the next closest theatre. But it started an hour sooner, and the nephew had to get up early to go to work the next day. Next the picture wasn't framed right, cut off on the sides and bottom. It got worse during the previews, when the audio track was projected on the screen, but they fixed that problem, but not the first.
As for the film itself, it was funny and worth waiting for. When they were talking about how it would address the thirty-somethings the way the first one addressed the twenty-somethings, I thought the message would be to grow up and join the world. Fortunately, it was a different message about pursuing your happiness and not joining the rest of the sheep. All this, a donkey show, and more.

Among other things, they've announced at San Diego that new DC Animated direct to video movies are coming, featuring "New Frontier", "Superman/Doomsday" and "New Teen Titans: Judas Contract".

Hey, gang, while I was feeling sorry for myself I read about the troubles Steven Thompson is having with unemployment. If you know anyone in the Cincinnati area that's looking to hire someone (says he's a writer/editor so that could be most anywhere, but I don't think he's afraid of hard work) pass along the word. And if you thought about sending me some money via PayPal because of my whining, go ahead and send it to him, 'kay?
View Article  Bad Day Two
Like Lisa I'm having a bad day.
I woke up with the fear (stronger than usual) of what if I can't get another job.
Plus I'm reading all the stuff about San Diego and wishing I was there as I am wont to do every year when I read about it. Then I read about the crowds, etc. and as the wife especially doesn't handle crowds well, I think I probably wouldn't as well. I always wanted to go to San Diego once in my life, and I feel that I'm getting too old, that the window of opportunity is shutting. I used to be able to console myself in the past with the Chicago Comicon, but that mutated into Wizard World, and I read awhile back they tore down the Ramada O'Hare, first site that I went to.
Clerks 2 opened today, but I wanted to see it with my nephew and brother, so that means I gotta wait until tomorrow night. I held off going early by watching the first cut of the original Clerks, but like The Empire Strikes Back "it ends on such a down note".
And tonight's walk was cancelled because the wife's foot is bothering her, both because of some skin she picked off and her ankle going crooked. We re-laced her shoes and she said it helped that. Hopefully that'll be it because of the unusual shape of her feet it's difficult and expensive to find the right shoe for her.
And I'm watching my auctions, I've got one bid on all the stuff, hopefully I'll get more.
Now I need to get off this internet and find something to cheer me up.
