This is Tony Collett's weblog dedicated to my thoughts on the happenings in the world, comic books, anime, science fiction, DVDs, and anything else I encounter. I'm forty-something, male, and married (sorry, ladies)

Well, I just deleted another round of spam. Apparently everyone in the Blogharbor community is suffering from these attacks, as an e-mail was sent out. Basically, while they're doing everything they can, disabling the anonymous posting is the best bet to stop it.
So if anyone has any comments, you gotta register. Shouldn't be more than putting in a name and a password. Like with my answering machine at home if you don't want to leave a message, forget it it wasn't important.
Feel a little better than this morning, but still down in the dumps. It's grey out there today.

I've just deleted a lot of comments that were nothing more than solicitations, mainly for p@rn. There were a lot more this time than before. And I think you name it, there's porn for it somewhere on the internet.
When you're getting more comments like that than on what you're saying, still no word the job market and unemployment, and my little town is having a festival where the population of 700 swells up to 100,000+. Not to mention the beef jerky ladies across the street from my bedroom that'll be yelling "HOMEMADE BEEF JERKY, FREE SAMPLE" all-too frequently starting in the morning and going both days. Plus there's work to do on this house (I don't wanna)...I'm so tired of it all.
View Article  Parents To Pentagon: Leave My Child Alone!
From Move On.Org:
"The Pentagon announced just this summer it has been collecting and using data—including such sensitive personal information as Social Security numbers, ethnicity, GPA, personal email addresses, height, weight, and even the cell phone numbers of kids, without their parent's permission. They had been keeping the database secret for more than three years—a violation of federal privacy laws and the privacy of tens of millions of young Americans. In addition, a little known provision in the federal No Child Left Behind Act is forcing public high schools to release the personal information of their students to local military recruiters, again without the consent of their families."
Go here for more details, and here to learn how to opt your child out of the high school recruitment list and the military database. Also spread the word.

Mark Gibson notes today is Talk Like A Pirate Day. I have been following the spirit by finishing up a second run-thru Sid Meier's Pirates! for the X Box. I wasn't able to complete all the goals before my health became poor, I was able to accomplish a little more on the second try, by finding my family that was captured by an evil pirate (with skull and crossbones eye patch) but unable to defeat him in the final sword fight. It was a rental, so at least I saved some money that way.
Apologies if this post is incoherent, with the fluctuating weather I'm feeling a bit under the weather, where laying down feels sooooo good.

Firms with Bush ties snag Katrina deals.
"Halliburton alone has earned more than $9 billion. Pentagon audits released by Democrats in June showed $1.03 billion in "questioned" costs and $422 million in "unsupported" costs for Halliburton's work in Iraq."
