Well, I had a phone interview today. I don't think it went too well, as they were able to worm out of me that I was let go from my last job. I did some explaining as to what happened and why I was moving on, but it could've been done better.
I had obtained some time back what many say is the essential guide for looking for work What Color Is Your Parachute? and it had suggested if you were fired, to say that you didn't see eye-to-eye with your last supervisor and you don't know why. Unfortunately, it didn't say anything about follow up questions, and I was unprepared.
Another error I made was not asking any questions. I had done my research on the company the job, and made some reference to that; but I should've asked something. Well, I had planned to use the interview to learn what to work on and concentrate on, and hopefully the notes I jotted down right afterwards (along with further study of Parachute) will serve me better in the future.
I am still proceeding, I have wrote a thank you note that will go out tomorrow, and I at least have a template for future use. They said if I didn't hear anything about another interview in 5 working days that they're not interested. To be honest, I was kinda enjoying my time off, and was hoping to have a little more before going back to the grind. But I'd like to get another job some time before my nest egg runs out. I've heard some good things about Costco, and this recent article courtesy of Mark Evanier further backs it up. Maybe I should put in an application there...
In other news, I had got some water in my left ear that was affecting my hearing, and going swimming didn't help it. Fortunately, my dad had some stuff that was given to him when he had some bad wax build up. I put some in and it seemed to help. He told me repeatedly not to use Q-Tips anymore, as it was found that using them, he was shoving the wax back in, and it built up.
And other websites and blogs have mentioned the recent passing of Jim Aparo and James Doohan, all I can offer is my sympathy and best wishes. And Mark also wrote on the recent anniversary of the passing of George Caragonne. If anything, can be filed in the "it could be worse" department.

Three kids (one of them a near death experience) and a few other ailments and none of them as painful as a bout of "swimmer's ear", I got my freshman year in college. A few drops of rubbing alcohol in the ear, a few times a day, will help dry out the water. If you don't get it out, it will begin to grow bacteria and you will get an infection that will hurt like you won't believe. You can find over-the-counter meds for swimmer's ear, but they are almost entirely rubbing alcohol. Hope you've already cleared it up. If not (since this entry goes back to Thursday), you're probably feeling pretty badly.
Good luck on the job thing. Crossing my fingers for you!! Tammy Re: Re: Son of Another Update

It did clear up, but the problem was I'd wake up and my ear felt like it was blocked up. I tried to wash out with water, wiggle my ear, everything.
I went and got some ear wash (probably rubbing alcohol like you said), but it had a rubber thing to wash the ear out after 4 days of use. It's better now, and if it happens again, I can use the thing to wash it out. Thanks! Trackbacks
