Yes, went to see it. There's some movies you want to see ASAP instead of waiting for video.
I've been reading what others had to say and what I can add to it is: I enjoyed it much the same way I enjoyed the 1970s Spider-Man TV series where there was enough of the characters on screen to get a charge out of actually seeing it, but you can't offer up much of a defense when someone criticizes the story or the effects, which were better than the Roger Corman save the option quickie he cranked out (except for possibly the Thing suit)
I picked up the novelization because Peter David did it. Unfortunately, the only in-joke I caught was from the Johnny/Ben faux "you're disfigured" scene where Johnny told Ben he looked like John Belushi before he died, or maybe after.

I enjoyed it much more than those awful tv attempts at Spidey, finding much more merit in this movie than I expected. Sure, it's not Dr. Doom in there, to be sure, but it held together as a film and generally worked well, IMHO.
My big question, though, is whether or not I was capable of being objective about it. I'm looking for reviews from people open to the material who don't have any background with the characters. I'm intimately familair with who Reed, Ben, Johnny and Sue are at least supposed to be, and with only one viewing of it I can't discern how much character/relationship baggage I brought to the viewing and how much was really conveyed by the script and actors.
