After months of speculation, Kitty Pryde will be played by Ellen Page in X3. She gets the thumbs up from me because she was in Trailer Park Boys, and passed a more stringent test by one the biggest Kitty fans out there, the wife. Bonus: her character's name in TPB was Treena, which is her step sister's name (okay, a different spelling, but still...)

Another impetus to go digital: a father spends six months in jail because of a picture of him kissing his son's belly button and over-zealous prosecutors. Still think the whole Patriot Act needs renewing?
And you know how your mother warned you to wear clean underwear in case of an accident? Maybe you should watch your outerwear in case you're arrested. Both courtesy of Paul Harris. Tuesday, July 26

Good to hear things went well at Comicon, with the footage and everything.
May I make a suggestion? I've read you're loyal to the legacy, that your movie is a contination of Superman: The Movie and Superman II (and even better, forgetting the next two in the series) Well, you know how the ad line for Superman: The Movie was "you'll believe a man can fly"? For Superman Returns how about using "you'll believe again"? I don't want anything for it, just hearing it at the end of the trailer would be reward enough for me. PS: Next time you're on the set of House, when you see Hugh Laurie, go up to him and sing "Row row row your boat, gently down the stream, belts off, trousers down, isn't life a scream"? He'll know what it's about. Monday, July 25

Jeff Lange has seen the first 20 minutes of Wallace and Gromit Curse of the Wererabbit and reviewed it at Jim Hill Media.

Well, I had a phone interview today. I don't think it went too well, as they were able to worm out of me that I was let go from my last job. I did some explaining as to what happened and why I was moving on, but it could've been done better.
I had obtained some time back what many say is the essential guide for looking for work What Color Is Your Parachute? and it had suggested if you were fired, to say that you didn't see eye-to-eye with your last supervisor and you don't know why. Unfortunately, it didn't say anything about follow up questions, and I was unprepared. Another error I made was not asking any questions. I had done my research on the company the job, and made some reference to that; but I should've asked something. Well, I had planned to use the interview to learn what to work on and concentrate on, and hopefully the notes I jotted down right afterwards (along with further study of Parachute) will serve me better in the future. I am still proceeding, I have wrote a thank you note that will go out tomorrow, and I at least have a template for future use. They said if I didn't hear anything about another interview in 5 working days that they're not interested. To be honest, I was kinda enjoying my time off, and was hoping to have a little more before going back to the grind. But I'd like to get another job some time before my nest egg runs out. I've heard some good things about Costco, and this recent article courtesy of Mark Evanier further backs it up. Maybe I should put in an application there... In other news, I had got some water in my left ear that was affecting my hearing, and going swimming didn't help it. Fortunately, my dad had some stuff that was given to him when he had some bad wax build up. I put some in and it seemed to help. He told me repeatedly not to use Q-Tips anymore, as it was found that using them, he was shoving the wax back in, and it built up. And other websites and blogs have mentioned the recent passing of Jim Aparo and James Doohan, all I can offer is my sympathy and best wishes. And Mark also wrote on the recent anniversary of the passing of George Caragonne. If anything, can be filed in the "it could be worse" department. Friday, July 15

Every year at this time, I read online about the goings on at Comicon International and wish I was there. Usually the feeling goes away after I lay down.
But a few weeks ago, faced with free time on my hands, I looked into the possibility of doing it on the cheap. Take a bus (I know, I know, but in addition to going on the cheap, I wanted to see the country like I did when I went cross country to San Jose to AnimeCon 91), find a hostel or campground. Unfortunately, those lodgings were booked solid, so someone had the idea before me. Oh well. |
