I don't want to go into details (other than the accusations weren't true) but I've just been let go of my current job of almost 10 years. I am in shock and not sure what to do. I do know enough to assess my current situation that as I told the wife that if she quit working and I curled up in a ball and stayed there, we could make it the next month.
And I got the information to file for unemployment and work, will do that tomorrow morning. After that, who knows?

Ouch. Been there, done that. It's not fun and it's not nice. Hang in there.

Really sorry to hear your news, Tony. The lack of job thing seems to be turning into a recurring theme here on the ether waves...doesn't it? I wish it were not. Winning the lotto is a TOTALLY better theme. But I digress. I hope something works out for you very soon, Tony. Keeping you in my thoughts and sending lots of positive vibes northward.

Ack! I just saw this, Tony. My sincere condolences, and I certainly understand the impulse to curl up and shut down. Looking forward's the only thing you can do.
It's a lousy circumstance to find one's self in. The best to be aiming for is to have yourself in a more personally fulfilling line of work by this time next year (not to say that you won't be working in the meantime) so you'll be able to look back on this time and say "It was a dark and depressing time, but it was ultimately a blessing. If I'd kept the old job I'd never have made the jump, and would have just kept going from pay to pay, looking down at my shuffling feet. I actually love what I'm doing now and if anything wish my old employers had let me go years earlier!" I realize none of that's a help now, but it's something to aim for. Moreover, there's some advice in there that I should take, too. MJN Re: Well, That's It
