As some of you know (or may not know) I've been a major Star Wars fan since '77. If I'm going to weigh in on anything, it would be on that topic. I'll exercise the little use "click here to continue" below just in case...
I've seen Revenge of the Sith twice since it's release, mainly because a promised viewing with the nephews wouldn't come to pass until Friday, and I caved in on Thursday. It provides an excellent link to the original trilogy, and the meat of the story in this trilogy is here. There are some questions that arise from trying to connect to a story line from 20 some years ago (one of the biggest is how Leia remembers her mother. Like all of you, I assumed Padme would've been with Leia during her early years. But going over that exchange between Luke and Leia in Return of the Jedi, remember at the time, Leia didn't know they were related. She could've very well have been thinking of Mrs. Organa (or whatever her name is) Of course, one would think of her rememberances being more in line for Padme, but given the person she thought was her mother was just a walk-on, who can tell?)
A lot of people have talked about how the first 40 minutes or so are slow, then it picks up, but I think the first part support Obi-Wan's description of Anakin in A New Hope: "The best star pilot in the galaxy...a cunning warrior...and he was a good friend."
However, the space battles still have the problem they've had since Jedi: there's too much on screen to concentrate on. You want to take it all in, but are unable to do so.
One favorite quote, given some of the topics I talk about in this blog: "This is how liberty dies. With thunderous applause." I hope and pray that this line isn't repeated in real life.
And of course, it was so good that I didn't mind honoring my committment to the nephews and taking them the next day. I don't think I would've done that with the last one.
