Well, my vacation ended Monday, I didn't feel like posting anything because I was getting back into the grind and trying to grind part itself as much as possible. There has to be more to life than working, right?
Also, I wanted the info about the Bankruptcy bill to have the spotlight so that action could be taken on it. I haven't seen anything on the other blogs that sometimes link to me, so I don't know what good that did. Hopefully the rich won't win and the poor won't get screwed again this time. I pretty much got what I set out to do on vacation accomplished. I didn't get all my unwatched DVDs watched (Just the Babylon 5 season sets and first two Star Trek TOS alone would occupy my time for vacation, if I gave up other activities, like sleeping) Also, the federal tax refund came in and we ended up getting what the wife wanted, a new couch. Also got a new coffee table. And a new bookshelf when the old one was destroyed in the move of the first two items. And there was the cleaning of that part of the living room. It's very nice and feels good that that was accomplished. Now on to the rest of the house... Wednesday, April 13

Steve Grant writes in column to urge people to contact your representative about the bankruptcy bill before the House of Representatives. This bill is created at the behest of the credit card companies, and changes the law so that people will be trapped in a cycle of debt and the credit card companies will keep their high profits. Mr. Grant also purports a scenario that inflation, poor jobs, and other conditions are the reasons behind the credit card companies' actions. He also recommends checking out debtslavery.org for further information.
Here is what I wrote my representative: "I urge you to vote against bill S. 256, that rewrites the bankruptcy laws. In most cases, an overwhelming majority of people who file for bankruptcy do so because of an unexpected catastrophic change in their life, such as losing a job, illness in the family, fufilling military obligations, or other factors. Credit card bankruptcies are only a small percentage of all bankruptcies filed (I have read that independent studies place it at around 3%). The bill does not address bankruptcies filed by millionaires and corporations. Also, any attempts to address my aforementioned concerns were not allowed into the bill. Thank you for your time." Contact your representative and urge them to vote no. Do it now, and spread the word. Friday, April 1

...well, not yet, anyway. I'm still chugging away at work until 4pm.
The plan is to hook up with Jim Prince (in case he googles his name) after work to see Sin City, and to enjoy a week at home, doing whatever I want: watching DVDs, play video games, cleaning out the shows on the TiVo, go out to eat, best of all: not going to work. I know posting's have been a bit on the light side lately. Meanwhile, check out some of the links on the right. |
