Last night watched the first episode of a week-long (and NBC hopes even longer) series called Deal Or No Deal. Premise is there's 26 suitcases held by 26 models, each containing a prize ranging from 1 cent to 1 million dollars. Contestant picks one that's their prize and selects others to eliminate what remains. At certain intervals a "banker" calls the host Howie Mandel (looking more like my brother than you might remember him) calls with an offer to take the money and run, or go on.
Mark Evanier and Gary Sassaman have wrote about it in their blogs. Although Gary has some good points, I have to give it Mark, as he made the same comparison I did to the old game show Treasure Hunt.

I enjoyed the first two nights of the show. I must admit though, it's growing a little thin with me. I guess what made me feel less enthused was the morning show I caught on our local radio show. The host was telling about how that he had tried out for several game shows years ago and was explaining the screening process. He said that personality and looks play a big part in who gets on. Of course, that's no surprise. But, Hearing that they try and screen out common people turned me off to the entire game show thing. This Dee Jay proclaims that he is a nerd and he was sent to a room full of nerds who didn't make it on the show. He also say's that most of the contestants are out of work actors, which would explain all the super enthusiam.

Good to see you've become a regular reader, Jerry. He came upon one of my earliest postings on a small press comic he did called Holey Crullers!, revamped as Common Grounds. Read it here and welcome aboard, Jerry.
