Thumbnail thoughts: In the past, I didn't post any comments other than immediate impressions because I wanted to enjoy the books at my own pace. If I was going to do any reviews, it would be at my own pace and on my own terms. But since I was asked...
Conan I just read the zero issue, haven't even gotten that far on Rude's Moth. I read the first Phantom Jack before getting the second one, it has my interest for now. Caper's running an interesting storyline started in issue 5, about a Hollywood lawyer defending an actor friend of killing his actress wife, who's hiding something, but won't say what.
The Ultimate titles are okay, but us old-timers realize after reading them that the originals covered the same ground much quicker.
With Wizard I find I'm becoming more like Grandpa in The Lost Boys, who got TV Guide but didn't have a TV, feeling it was sufficient. Really no need to get most of the mainstream comics.
On the other hand, Hogan's Alley is one of those magazines like Comics Journal you can spend hours perusing. All sorts of interesting info about comic strips and animation.
Everything else I haven't got to yet.

Thanks for commenting on some of the items you picked up. It's always good to get a line on items I haven't been bothering with.
Is the ongoing Moth series written by Gary Martin, the way the "double-sized spectacular" was? (Or is that still waiting to be read?) I'm a big fan of Steve Rude's artwork, but I found the main story in that issue to be poorly plotted and written. Conceptually, the character is fine - no worse than the majority of Silver Age characters out there, and with an interesting enough (if a little over-layered) backstory, so there's plenty to work with. Anyway, I'll be interested to hear how the first issue of the ongoing series compares to the special. Re: Re: Comics I Bought 4/28

Mike,
Read the Moth one shot and issue 1 on Sunday. The special was "eh", the first issue was better. If I were picking up comics at the shop and not preordering them, I'd probably pass on the regular series, which is a shame, because it's much better. Re: Comics I Bought 4/28
