As the Supreme Court is preparing to hear arguments about whether or not to include the words "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance. Actually, these words were added in the 1950's in the middle of McCarthy-ism, a period of time when a very few abused their power in the name of protecting us from the dreaded enemy dedicated to destroy us, not like these sane and rational times.
Paul Harris posted a new link to an old column he wrote about making school children recite the Pledge

Peter David brings up the possibility that part of his Comics Buyers Guide column was censored. The link he has to it comes up blank, but you can read all about it here.

Proving once again he thinks the rules don't apply to him.
If you don't check out the Daily Mislead link on the right every day, you should. And if you aren't registered to vote, or not voting, you should reconsider. "None of the above" isn't going to win, nor will your non-prescence in the polls be a factor in deciding who runs things.

Richard Clarke's recent revelations didn't surprise me much since I read how the Bush administration continually rebuffed Clinton's team's attempts to make them aware of the Al-Queda threat in Al Franken's Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right. Also, here's an article that supports the same facts.

Mark Gibson posted an entry yesterday pointing out that it would be cheaper and easier if a national health care plan was adopted. It is so well-thought out that it won't work. Also, as long as the doctors and health insurance companies want to keep riding the gravy train (and our elected "representatives" continue to take

There's been reports (first one I read was courtesy Mike Norton) that Wizkids only had 150 Galactuses to sell at Wizard World East, with a good number going to dealers and others before the doors officially open. There has been some hub-bub on the HC Realms boards about thisincluding this one. Wizkids is promising to look into the matter and let us know how this will be addressed in the future. I certainly hope that those that came away empty-handed are given the opportunity to make to purchase it through the mail (but given Wizkids' response that they'll have another chance at San Diego, I doubt it) And hopefully there won't be as much as a hassle when Origins or Gen Con rolls around. Although, frankly, I'm not sure I'll still be interested in Heroclix by then. It isn't just this matter. The main problem is a lack of opportunity to play the game, or play for fun. I hardly see my nephew, the only other person I know who plays, and going to tournaments or gaming events isn't fun or enjoyable. I'm interested in the collectibility aspect of it, but at $7 (soon to be $8), plus looking at making car payments and having to get a new washer and dryer, I'm not sure how long that will last.

Mark Evanier points out this article about a congressman proposing a law to overturn Supreme Court decisions. Although the author regrets bringing this kind of thing to our attention, ignoring it might let it slip by, or something similar.
As Jon Stewart said on The Daily Show, an activist judge is a judge that makes a ruling I don't like. |
